· 1950s – saw a development in Horror movies. The fear of cold war and the end of civilisations led to an input onto films such as ‘The Blob’. This decade was popular with monsters, and with new advances in science meant lots of Horror films were based around the advances in science.
· 1970s – in the 1970s is when Horror expanded new themes in their films, such as sexism, religion, and consumerism all everyday social battles. This was the decade in which the Vietnam war was happening, so Horror movies became more violent and bloodthirsty.
· 1980s – in this decade Horror movies were not as common, but slasher movies became quite popular. And comedy was being brought into Horror movies, as well as many films being based on books by Stephan King.
· 1990s – this was when 'popular' films were winning many awards, these films tended to have leading actors and actresses. Slasher films were still popular. Comic books were also popular, being adapted into well known Horror films such as ‘The Blair Witch Project’.
· 2000s – is the decade of remaking old Horror films. Other countries also attempted to make Horror films, such as ’28 days later’ which was effective due to the emptying of well known London locations.
