Slender attack
Two 12 year old girls from Wisconsin happened to notice a certain mythical creature called 'Slender Man'. They found his name on a blog website called 'Creepy Pasta' where viewers can write and post different paranormal and supernatural stories. 'Slender Man' is in fact a video game character, but the girls saw him as the leader for the website. To please him and to gain access to his 'mansion' which they believed to be in Wisconsin they lured their friend into the local woods and stabbed her 19 times and left her to die in a pool of her own blood.
Mary Bell
Mary's home life had not been pleasant. Mary's mother was a prostitute and who she believed her father was, was a convicted criminal. At the age of 11, she abducted 2 boys from Newcastle in 1968 Martin Brown aged 4 and Brian Howe aged 3. Mary murdered both these boys by strangling them, later she returned to the body of Brian to carve the letter 'M' in his chest using scissors.
Eric smith
Eric Smith at a young age was diagnosed with a mental disorder which involved him acting out violently and unpredictably. Smith spent his early days being bullied for his small figure, low-set ears, glasses, having red hair and freckles. In 1993 on the way to a camp he passed 4 year old Derrick Robie and lured him into the nearby woodlands. It was here Eric strangled the toddler, dropped a rock on his head, undressed him and sodomized him with a tree branch.

Since a very young age Young was interested in poisons and their effects on the human body. At the age of 14 he had taught himself undergraduate level chemistry and was making his own poisons. Testing them out on his family he made them seriously ill and was pleased with his results. His poisons spread through his classmates as well as his family. In 1962, Young's stepmother had died from poisoning and he was under suspicion from existing family members. After being sent to a psychiatrist he was arrested by the police. This resulted in his confinement in a hospital for patients with mental disorders who have committed offenses. It was within this hospital that he managed to carry on his research on poison's perfecting the art and carried on testing on fellow inmates and other staff member's, one whom died. After release from hospital, Young carried on his art throughout his workplace, ending in killing two more victims. Again Young was arrested and sentenced to life in prison. In 1990 Young died in his cell due to a heart attack.

The Girl Next Door (2007) - Based on the story of Sylvia Likens who was left with her parents friend Gertrude while they travelled with the Circus. Gertrude terrorised Sylvia with similar events to the ones shown in the film. She was held captive, tortured, beaten and eventually killed due to a brain haemorrhage, multiple beating and malnutrition.
The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005) - Based on the story of Anneliese Michel who seemed to have lost control of her body. This progressed to violent attacks towards family member's. Anneliese suddenly became terrified of religious objects and would even drink her own urine. This led to the family member's hiring priests to perform almost 40 Exorcisms on the girl. Just before the 40th Exorcism Anneliese died of pneumonia.
Psycho (1960) - Losely based on the story of Ed Gein from Wisconsin who was arrested for murdering two people as well as digging up the bodies of dead women who reminded him of his mother. He used the skin from the bodies to make homely items such as lampshades and socks. He also made himself a 'woman suit' in the hopes of becoming a woman. Gein lived out the rest of his days in a mental institution.
