soundtrack
Originally for the soundtrack we had decided to use The Vitamin String Quartet's cover of Metallica's The Unforgiven. We chose this song as it linked with the genre of our trailer, fit quite nicely with it and sounded slightly sinister. However, after some discussion we thought we would make up our own soundtrack for the majority of the trailer. I took on this task to make up the music as I had some previous experience with composing music. After about two days playing around on a keyboard I had a basic tune. I added some embellishments to the music and it was ready to be recorded, to do this I plugged the keyboard into an Apple Mac using a MIDI cord and opened up Adobe Audition. I first had to record the base layer which I did alone, then to record the main tune I played the majority alone, until the last four bars where Annie assisted me as I had to have four hands playing the tune. I then moved both these recordings into a multi-track ready to be put together with the trailer.
premiere pro
To put our trailer together we used Adobe's Premiere Pro, which is the same program we used for the Preliminary task. This meant we had a basic understanding of the program and how it worked. Due to other commitments of my partner, I was the one who was left with the task of editing our trailer. I started off by putting all the videos we wanted onto the video line and putting them down to the right lengths. I then started work on the different aspects of different videos. For a lot of the shots I darkened the image down as I thought it was too bright for the type of feelings we were trying to connote from the trailer. One of the most challenging tasks I had was our last shot. I decided that when Veronica had turned the corner and seen her parents dead we wanted her to scream. To support her scream and the fact that this shot is from her Point of View, I thought if I could blur the image slowly it might look like Veronica is tearing up. To do this I had to cut the shot up and change the blur percentage on each of the shots, the next one having a higher percentage than the one before it. I then had to make sure it ran smoothly with no jumps so it looked like it had been edited together.
After discussions with our teacher, she suggested that we added some tallies and more shots of possible criminals turning round to face the camera. So I went out and shot 3 more people turning round to face the camera. In the end we only used two of these shots but in total we have 4 of these shots in our trailer. I then thought about putting these shots over the top of death scenes and action scenes. To do this I moved the video over the top of the original and moved it on the image so it was to the side so both played at the same time. I then got an image of a black line and did the same again to put in between the two shots to break them up. After this I then got to work on the tag lines, I first had to decide what I wanted them to say which Annie helped me come up with. I then opened Photoshop in which i created them, screens hotting this and cropping the image I was able to put it into premiere pro and add them to our trailer.
To finish off our trailer I just added the last few effects and put all the videos together. We had already decided at the beginning of the project that we were going to use few sounds and talking and rely on our soundtrack to create the atmosphere for our trailer. I added a few sounds of Veronica screaming and the opening music. This was recorded through Quick Time Player and is me and Annie singing the theme that was originally CWs The Secret Circle's (2011) theme tune. We chose this as it sounded creepy especially if it was sung in a young child's voice. It also sounded like nursery rhymes, linking back to our theme of children.

film title
As we had animated our production logo, we decided we wanted a similar image for our main title. To do this we used the same colour background then discussed how we wanted it to look. As our main star is a child we came up with the idea of using quick time player to do a screen recording as we used our mouse to draw/write the title out. We wanted it to be conjoined to connote that Alice is smart but also messy, and mixed capital letters to show Alice's confused mind, her uncertainty about herself and that she is still a child.

production logo
We created our logo using Adobe Photoshop. To start we decided what size it should be then looked back to our drafts to start creating it. We chose a basic font, and used the colour white for the words then had a black background. We then decided this looked to boring and basic so decided to look for a knife to use for our I. We found an old trench knife which had spikes on the handle which connoted the Horror genre from our title.
Upon reflection we decided that the black and white colour theme was too boring and didn't connote the Horror genre very well. We then worked with different shades of red, trying to find one that wasn't too bright and unnatural but still caused an uneasy feeling for the viewer. After playing around for a bit we found the colour we wanted and were happy with our product.
After this we went back to our trailer, and decided that our production logo needed to be moving to work well with the trailer. We decided to move the knife to slice through the other letters. To do this I moved the knife ever so slightly and screen shot each time. After I had screen shot all the different moves, I then had to crop each one so they were the same size.
I then put each image into Adobe Premiere Pro and made them a millisecond each so when played the logo would only be a total of 5 seconds. This would make it look like the knife was slicing through the letters. Thinking I needed sound to add to the effect I added an SFX of a sword slicing that matched up with the clip.
Below is the finished product.
